La question du jour mardi 12 avril 2011 Un lecteur me demande par mail quel est mon track préféré de David Bowie. La colle ! Je dirais que mon morceau préféré de son imposant répertoire varie en fonction de mon humeur. Je réserve les instrumentaux brumeux de Low et Heroes à mes moments les plus down et je ne crache pas sur un petit Changes ou Cracked actor à très haut volume de grand matin pour me mettre de bonne humeur. Il m’arrive même de faire de l’air guitar sur l’interminable solo de Ronson de la version live de 73 de The width of circle... Au moment de rédiger ces lignes, mon track préféré de Bowie, c’est Aladdin Sane, un morceau dominé par le piano du virtuose Mike Garson. L’immense pianiste part dans des improvisations free-jazz totalement déroutantes, tandis que le saxo se la joue perso et que la basse répète inlassablement le même accord hypnothique. Une fois encore, si on se remet dans le contexte de l’époque, Bowie est précisément là où absolument personne ne l’attendait. C’est ce qui en fait, pour moi, un pur génie. J.D. |
